Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC seeks an Equipment Mechanic in Indiana to diagnose, maintain, service and repair heavy equipment and fleet vehicles for safe operation. This full-time role includes overtime after 40 hours and a union-based benefits package through IBEW Local 1393.

Responsibilities include diagnosing engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems; performing routine maintenance; welding as needed; and ensuring compliance with safety standards for fleet operations.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to safely operate an approved company vehicle.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems preferred.
  • Must be willing to join the applicable local union and pay required dues.

Description

Job Title: Equipment Mechanic

Employment Type: Full-Time+, Non-Exempt. Current schedule is 50 hours a week (Overtime rate applied after 40 hours), but may change to fit needs of crews.

Department: Fleet Operations / Equipment Maintenance

Reports To: Fleet Manager / Shop Supervisor

Pay: Competitive Hourly Rate in alignment with local union hall rates.

Position Summary

The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, servicing, and repairing heavy equipment and fleet vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Perform all necessary equipment repairs, including replacement of worn or damaged parts.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and servicing on heavy equipment and fleet vehicles.

Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid Driver License required.
  • Class A CDL with Air Brake Endorsement preferred.
