Job summary

Preferred Materials - Asphalt Division, part of CRH Southeast Division of Companies, is the leader in production of high-quality hot mix and warm mix asphalt. The Loader Operator moves materials within the plant using heavy equipment, such as bulldozers, backhoes, excavators and front-end loaders.

The role requires experience with heavy equipment, safety awareness, and the ability to work outdoors for long hours. Strong teamwork and reliable work ethic are essential for success at CRH.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in public works maintenance and/or construction work.
• Must maintain a safe driving record and have a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work in a team environment.
• Ability to perform manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel or other materials.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and perform maintenance tasks.
• Assist Plant Manager in coordinating materials handling and equipment usage.
• Demonstrate knowledge of heavy equipment operation and safety practices.
• Follow traffic and safety rules and maintain safe work practices.
• Keep records and prepare oral or written reports as needed.
• Perform simple arithmetic computations related to loads and materials.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Ability to work long hours outdoors, including in adverse weather.
