Job summary

Preferred Materials, Inc., an asphalt division of CRH Southeast, seeks an Asphalt Plant Loader Operator in the Jacksonville, FL area. The role involves moving and loading materials within the plant using heavy equipment, performing pre‑operational checks, and supporting plant operations and safety practices.

Candidates should have three years of public works or related construction experience and a valid driver’s license, with stamina for outdoor work and long hours in various weather

Qualifications

• Three years of public works maintenance/construction experience, including heavy equipment operation.
• Must maintain a safe driving record and have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to work long hours outdoors, in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade materials.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and perform routine maintenance.
• Assist Plant Manager in coordinating materials handling and equipment usage.
• Maintain knowledge of safety rules and operate machinery safely.
• Keep records and prepare oral/written reports and perform simple arithmetic.
• Communicate effectively with team members and the public.
