Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an experienced heavy-duty diesel truck technician to maintain and repair a modern fleet at our Durham shop.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and complex repairs on Roll-off, Front-load, and Rear-load trucks while upholding safety and quality standards. You will work with drivers and shop staff to minimize downtime and keep routes running smoothly, using diagnostic software to quickly identify and fix issues.

Qualifications

2+ years of hands-on experience in heavy-duty diesel truck repair or completion of a vocational/diesel technology program.
Proficient with hydraulic systems, air brake systems, electrical diagnostics, and heavy equipment systems.
Own a basic set of mechanics tools; specialized tools provided by GFL.

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and complex repairs on modern heavy-duty diesel trucks (Roll-off, Front-load, Rear-load).
Inspect and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, electrical systems, suspensions, and transmissions.
Utilize diagnostic software and troubleshooting expertise to identify and fix issues quickly and effectively.
Ensure every vehicle leaving the shop meets GFL and DOT safety regulations.
Collaborate with drivers, shop supervisors, and operations to minimize downtime.
