Job summary

GFL Environmental in Garner, NC is seeking a CDL / Commercial Fleet Diesel Mechanic to keep our diesel trucks on the road and the communities we serve running smoothly.

As part of the shop team, you will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a busy commercial diesel fleet, document work orders, and follow safety protocols. You will use shop software and collaborate with teammates to ensure reliability and uptime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; diesel technology diploma is a plus.
• Minimum 1 year hands-on diesel repair experience.
• Strong knowledge of diesel diagnostics, air brakes, electrical systems; able to use shop software.
• Own basic hand tools; specialty tools provided in shop.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 100 lbs; work in a bustling repair shop.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on our diesel fleet (oil changes, inspections, tune-ups).
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, air brakes, electrical systems, suspensions, transmissions, and emissions control.
