Job summary

The Army National Guard seeks Horizontal Construction Engineers to remove obstacles and prepare sites for roads, airfields, and buildings in Vermont. You’ll operate heavy excavating and earthmoving equipment, level terrains, and support construction projects to ensure mission readiness.

You’ll train through nine weeks of Basic Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training, earning a regular paycheck while gaining civilian construction skills and related certifications.

Qualifications

• Must enlist in the Army National Guard and meet eligibility criteria.
• Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.

Responsibilities

• Level earth for runways and roadbeds and clear construction sites.
• Operate heavy equipment like bulldozers and roadgraders as part of missions.
• Assist in combat engineer tasks and support maintenance of equipment.
