Job summary

Independence Excavating is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to join our team in Cincinnati area. The role oversees budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, contracts and purchase orders while coordinating with owners and field leaders.

You will manage multiple large commercial projects, develop cost codes, review subcontractor bids, and ensure safety and quality across sites. Travel up to 50% is expected as projects rotate in the region.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• At least 5 years’ experience managing large commercial construction projects.
• Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with owners, project engineers and local government offices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage people, budget, schedule, and quality of work across multiple sites.
• Competent in complete and accurate project take-offs and estimates.
• Willing and able to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and return submittals for items to be manufactured or provided.
• Coordinate with Superintendent/Operations Manager for equipment and crew needs.
• Assemble job cost codes and regularly update them.
• Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries on major items.
• Review and approve subcontractor/supplier estimates and invoices; negotiate and coordinate extra work orders and changes in scope.
• Monitor production, resource utilization and total job cost versus estimates to maintain margin.
• Prepare monthly job cost and profit projections.
