Job summary

Vallourec North America, based in Houston, TX, seeks a maintenance technician to set up and operate furnaces and metal-hardening equipment, read gauges, and follow heat-treat procedures to meet part specifications. You’ll support 5S, preventive maintenance, and compliance with API and quality standards.

You must be able to lift up to 40 lbs, work rotating 8–12 hour shifts (weekends/holidays), and operate cranes or forklifts.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate equipment such as furnaces, quench, and heat-treat machines.
• Determine temperatures and media for quenching to meet hardness specs.
• Read gauges to ensure equipment is running properly.
• Adhere to API and quality standards.
• Monitor and improve performance, taking corrective action when needed.
• Participate in maintenance and 5S activities.
• Enter and validate data manually and via computer.
• Operate overhead and floor cranes; use forklift and scissor lift.
• Work in confined spaces during equipment maintenance.
• Report discrepancies to supervisor.

Description

Your Day-to-Day Impact

• Set up and operate equipment, such as furnaces, Quench, photo eyes, flame-hardening machines, and electronic induction machines that harden, anneal, and heat-treat metal.
• Determine types and temperatures of quenching media needed to attain specified part hardness, toughness, and ductility, using heat-treating charts and knowledge of methods, equipment, and metals.
• Reading and understanding gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is properly running.
• Adherence to API and quality standards
• Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
• Participation in level 1 maintenance, preventative maintenance, and 5S
• Entering and validating data manually as well as using a computer
• Adherence to corporate policies, procedures, practices and specifications.
• Adherence to department policies, procedures, practices and specifications.
• Adherence to OSHA safety standards, and departmental Lock out Tag out policies
• Operate overhead, and floor crane
• Operate forklift and scissor lift
• Work in confined spaces for equipment maintenance
• Perform all other tasks assigned
• Report all discrepancies to department supervisor
