Job summary

Snap-on is seeking a Heat Treat Operator to set up, operate, and monitor heat‑treating equipment to harden, quench, temper, anneal and carburize metal parts. You will ensure parts meet hardness and durability specs while upholding safety and quality standards.

The 3rd shift is Sunday–Thursday, 9:30 pm–5:30 am, with mandatory overtime as required, and a collaborative, safety‑minded team environment in a leading manufacturing company.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Heat treating experience and knowledge of materials and heat-treating methods.
  • Extreme safety conscious and timely reporting of needs and issues.
  • Technical school courses, mechanical hobbies, or similar experience are a plus.
  • Strong mechanical or technical aptitude; enjoys working with tools and equipment.
  • Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions.
  • Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, measurements).
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and maintaining an orderly workspace.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear required PPE (safety glasses, gloves and safety shoes, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Operate all heat‑treat furnaces and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of heat treatments.
  • Follow work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Communicate production or equipment issues verbally or in writing to supervisors and team members, including cross‑shift operators.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform basic routine machine maintenance as trained.
  • Assist with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing efforts as skills develop.
  • Memorize and execute emergency containment and or shutdown procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Heat Treat Operator Overview

The Heat Treat Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring heat‑treating equipment used to perform operations such as hardening, quenching, tempering, annealing and carburizing metal parts. This role ensures components meet required hardness, strength, and durability specifications while maintaining safety, quality, and production standards.

Hourly Rate

$20.50 – $24.25

3rd Shift Available

Sunday – Thursday, 9:30 pm – 5:30 am

Must be available to work mandatory overtime

Employees must be able to work overtime when required.
