Job summary

Vallourec Star in Houston, TX is seeking a maintenance technician to set up and operate industrial equipment, including furnaces and heat-treating machines. You will determine quenching media and temperatures to achieve required hardness and ductility, while reading gauges and maintaining safety standards.

You will perform maintenance tasks, enter data, and adhere to policies, with shifts that include weekends and holidays. Strong English communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or better.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
• Experience with equipment maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

Description

Your Day-to-Day Impact

• Set up and operate equipment, such as furnaces, Quench, photo eyes, flame-hardening machines, and electronic induction machines that harden, anneal, and heat-treat metal.
• Determine types and temperatures of quenching media needed to attain specified part hardness, toughness, and ductility, using heat-treating charts and knowledge of methods, equipment, and metals.
• Reading and understanding gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is properly running.
• Adherence to API and quality standards
• Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
• Participation in level 1 maintenance, preventative maintenance, and 5S
• Entering and validating data manually as well as using a computer
• Adherence to corporate policies, procedures, practices and specifications.
• Adherence to department policies, procedures, practices and specifications.
• Adherence to OSHA safety standards, and departmental Lock out Tag out policies
• Operate overhead, and floor crane
• Operate forklift and scissor lift
• Work in confined spaces for equipment maintenance
• Perform all other tasks assigned
• Report all discrepancies to department supervisor
