Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician for our Cardiac Surgical ICU. This is a Full Time, Day Shift (12-hour shift) position with hours 7:00am to 7:00pm and rotating weekends.

The PCT provides patient care, supports activities of daily living, monitors vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter care under RN supervision, ensuring patient safety and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent certification required or in RN/LPN clinical program.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under RN supervision and document changes promptly.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and activities of daily living.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKGs, and specimen collection.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion/removal and IV removal as needed.
