Job summary

Siemens Healthineers AG is seeking a highly skilled software and robotics engineer to advance real-time workflow engines for image-guided therapies. You will design distributed systems, model procedures, and implement autonomous decision logic in a regulated medical device environment.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in Germany and beyond, applying state estimation, ML inputs, and robust handover strategies to ensure safe, reliable clinical workflows.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience or a PhD in Robotics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with complex distributed systems, workflow modeling, state estimation, behavior trees, process automation, decision support, or autonomous decision systems.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, systems engineering, and real-time systems.
• Familiarity with neurovascular interventions, image-guided therapy, angiography, or clinical workflow optimization is a plus.
• Experience in programming in Rust, Python, or C++, and software engineering following DevOps best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement hierarchical workflow engines coordinating medical devices in the interventional suite.
• Model endovascular procedure workflows with phase entry/exit criteria and real-world event handling.
• Develop fail-safe workflows and handover strategies for autonomous operation with safe supervision logic.
• Integrate inputs from real-time multi-modal ML models and sensors for state estimation.
• Collaborate with computer vision and robotics teams to integrate imaging-derived events into workflow logic.
