Job summary

Siemens Healthineers AG invites a Software Engineer to design, integrate, and validate remote connectivity for the ARIES program. You will collaborate with software, systems, and networking experts to enable secure, scalable long-distance operation and data exchange.

The role requires hands-on experience with C++ and Python, DDS middleware, containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes/VMs), and streaming workflows for image/video data. Medical robotics context is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience with C++ and Python, in robotics or distributed systems.
• Experience designing or troubleshooting remote connectivity infrastructure (VPNs, VLANs, routing, firewalls).
• Experience with DDS or comparable middleware and tuning QoS for distributed systems.
• Experience building containerized/virtualized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, VMs).
• Experience with image/video streaming across networks using GStreamer, ROS, or DDS-related tools.
• Experience with GPU-enabled software environments for real-time data processing.
• Experience building monitoring, diagnostics, and observability interfaces.
• Experience writing tests, CI pipelines, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools to support development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Define remote connectivity requirements and integration concepts with software and systems teams.
• Design and integrate remote connectivity infrastructure (VPNs, VLANs, routing, secure configurations).
• Configure QoS for middleware to support reliable long-distance communication.
• Develop reusable software infrastructure for containerized/virtualized environments.
• Extend protocols to exchange data and operational metadata across systems.
• Implement monitoring and liveliness reporting for connectivity links.
• Enable streaming of image/video across WANs using streaming frameworks and GPU pipelines.
• Support testing, automation, documentation, reviews, and continuous improvement.
