Job summary

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New Jersey is seeking a Security Guard I at our Monmouth location to protect patients, visitors and staff by monitoring entrances and perimeters, responding to incidents, and assisting during emergencies.

This full-time role reports to the Security Manager and requires NJ SORA certification, the ability to patrol outdoors in varying weather, and a strong customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey SORA Certification required.
• Prior experience working as a Security Guard or in a related public safety or customer-facing role preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, including outdoors.
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency or fast-paced situations.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to document incidents clearly and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Monitor building entrances, interior spaces, parking areas, and exterior perimeters to maintain safety and access control.
• Conduct routine patrols and remain alert to potential safety or security concerns.
• Respond promptly and professionally to alarms, emergencies, incidents, and requests for assistance.
• De-escalate disruptive or challenging situations using sound judgment and professionalism.
• Investigate incidents and complete accurate and detailed written reports.
• Operate surveillance systems, access control systems, and other security-related technology.
• Collaborate with clinical, operational, and facilities teams to support a safe patient care environment.
• Provide excellent customer service while maintaining professionalism and a visible security presence.
• Support emergency preparedness and response procedures as needed.
