Job summary

Genesiscareers is seeking a Records Management Specialist in the United States to maintain and secure medical records in accordance with federal and state regulations. The role includes ensuring accurate ICD coding for proper billing and up-to-date documentation for all patients/residents.

You will create medical records for new admissions, perform routine audits for compliance, and secure timely sign-offs on discharge charts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College degree strongly preferred or commensurate experience.
• Certification in ICD coding or working knowledge of ICD coding is required.
• Working knowledge of state and federal regulations for health information management, retention and disclosures, including HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and secure written and electronic records per federal/state regulations and the records management program.
• Ensure accurate and current diagnostic coding for appropriate billing.
• Create medical records for all newly admitted patients/residents.
• Conduct routine audits of medical records to monitor compliance with documentation, physician visits, and timeliness.
• Obtain signatures on discharge charts within 30 days of discharge.
