Job summary

Lovington Healthcare is seeking a Medical Records Specialist to maintain and secure resident medical records from admission through discharge. You will ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with federal/state rules while supporting efficient billing and audits.

The role requires experience with medical records in long-term care settings, familiarity with ICD coding, and strong communication with residents, families, staff and physicians.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology, laws, and regulations relevant to long-term care.
• Experience with HIPAA and privacy practices.
• Strong communication skills to interact with residents, families, staff and providers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain resident medical records in compliance with State and Federal regulations, standards and policies.
• Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of records from pre-admission to post-discharge.
• Code diagnoses accurately to support billing and cash flow.
• Perform monthly audits on admissions, discharges and QA activities.
• Review and audit records for documentation, physician visits and timeliness.
