Genesiscareers in Northern Kentucky seeks a Records Management Specialist to maintain and secure all patient records in compliance with federal and state rules, and to ensure accurate diagnostic coding for proper billing.

You will manage the electronic system, conduct audits, obtain signatures on discharge documents, and support HIPAA and health information management requirements.

Requires a high school diploma; college degree preferred; ICD coding certification or knowledge required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College degree strongly preferred or commensurate experience.
• Certification in ICD coding or working knowledge is required.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and health information management regulations.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and secure written and electronic records per federal/state regulations and for accurate billing.
• Maintain diagnosis lists in the electronic system.
• Perform ICD coding in consultation with CRC/RN.
• Create medical records for new patients/residents.
• Conduct routine audits of records for compliance and timeliness.
• Obtain signatures on discharge charts within 30 days of discharge.
