Job summary

The New York State Department of Health seeks a Project Assistant to oversee system functions for HR 1 initiatives within the NY State of Health (NYSOH). The role requires strong management, leadership, and a deep understanding of large‑scale system operations and IT governance.

Responsibilities include supervising system integrator staff, validating estimates, overseeing changes to server/storage architectures, and developing reports and metrics to monitor performance and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years in IT systems operations or related areas
• Experience with infrastructure changes, performance monitoring, and vendor oversight
• Supervisory experience of at least 2 years
• Preferred: Medicaid/healthcare IT environment experience

Responsibilities

• Oversee system integrator staff to ensure enterprise standards
• Review estimates and develop recommendations when outside guidelines
• Oversee change requests in server, storage, and hardware architectures
• Direct development of standard reports to monitor HR 1 activities
• Develop performance metrics for system integrator work
• Analyze regulatory impacts on HR 1 initiatives
• Collaborate with business, IT, and non-technical stakeholders
• Supervise and mentor state staff and contractors
• Lead meetings with NYSOH state, contractor, and stakeholder teams
• Perform full range of supervisory duties
