Our organization consists of multiple healthcare companies providing hospice, home health, and related healthcare services across Arizona, California, and Oklahoma.The HR Generalist will work closely with the Human Resources Director and Recruiting Manager to support employees and leadership throughout the employee lifecycle. This position will primarily focus on HR operations, employee support, onboarding, compliance, personnel records, benefits administration, leave administration, and employee relations support.While the HR Generalist will partner with our Recruiting Manager, recruiting will not be a primary responsibility of this position.The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being hands-on, is comfortable supporting employees in multiple states, has strong attention to detail, and can balance day-to-day employee needs with the compliance requirements of a growing healthcare organization.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEmployee Onboarding & HR OperationsCoordinate the HR portion of the new-hire onboarding process following the recruitment and offer stage.Ensure required employment documents, acknowledgments, background screening requirements, and other onboarding items are completed.Enter, maintain, and audit employee information within the company's HRIS/payroll system.Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records and employee documentation.Process employee status changes, including position, compensation, supervisor, location, and employment-status changes.Assist with employee transfers between affiliated companies when applicable.Coordinate employee separation documentation and offboarding processes.Respond to routine employee questions regarding company policies, benefits, payroll procedures, timekeeping, and other HR matters.Compliance & Personnel RecordsAssist the HR Director with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements.Support HR compliance for employees located in Arizona, California, and Oklahoma.Conduct routine personnel-file audits to ensure required documentation is complete and current.Assist with tracking required employment documentation, licenses, certifications, background checks, health requirements, and other applicable healthcare employment requirements.Maintain confidentiality of employee, medical, payroll, and company information.Assist with HR audits and preparation of documentation requested by regulatory agencies, payers, or other authorized parties.Monitor required employment documentation and communicate upcoming expirations or deficiencies to appropriate leadership.Benefits & Leave AdministrationAssist employees with benefits enrollment and general benefits questions.Process qualifying life events and employee benefit changes.Coordinate with benefit vendors and payroll as needed.Assist with administration and tracking of employee leaves of absence, including FMLA and applicable state leave programs.Maintain appropriate documentation for employee leave and accommodation matters under the direction of the HR Director.Assist with workers' compensation reporting, documentation, and claim follow-up.Employee RelationsServe as an accessible HR resource for employees and managers regarding routine workplace questions and concerns.Assist the HR Director with employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, performance improvement plans, and other workplace issues.Prepare and maintain documentation related to counseling, corrective action, performance management, and employee concerns.Help ensure company policies and HR practices are administered consistently throughout the organization.Escalate complex or high-risk employee relations matters to the HR Director.Assist managers with understanding and consistently applying company policies and procedures.HR Administration & ReportingPrepare HR reports and maintain employee tracking spreadsheets and dashboards.Assist with unemployment claims, employment verifications, and other employment-related requests.Track employee changes, terminations, leave activity, workers' compensation matters, and other HR metrics.Assist with updating policies, procedures, forms, job descriptions, and employee communications.Participate in HR projects and process-improvement initiatives.Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize HR processes across affiliated companies.Recruiting SupportRecruiting is primarily managed by the company's Recruiting Manager. The HR Generalist will partner with Recruiting to ensure a smooth transition from candidate selection to onboarding and employment.The HR Generalist may provide recruiting assistance when needed but will not be responsible for managing the company's primary recruiting function.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.2–5 years of Human Resources experience preferred.HR experience in healthcare, hospice, home health, or another highly regulated industry strongly preferred.Experience supporting employees in multiple states preferred.Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.California HR experience is highly desirable.Experience with HRIS/payroll systems; Paycom experience is a plus.Experience with employee onboarding, benefits, leave administration, personnel files, and employee relations preferred.SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification is a plus but not required.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesThe successful candidate will demonstrate:Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information appropriately.Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue should be escalated.Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills.Ability to communicate professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with HR and operational leadership.Ability to learn and apply HR policies and employment requirements across multiple states.Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and HR information systems.A proactive approach to identifying and resolving HR administrative and compliance issues.Why Join Our Team?This is an opportunity to become an important part of a growing Human Resources department supporting multiple healthcare organizations across three states.
