Job summary

Harvard University Health Services (HUHS) is seeking an on-site facilities assistant to support building operations and central services for HUHS locations. You will perform routine inspections, handle transport of materials, and coordinate with Campus Services and vendors to maintain safe, efficient spaces for patient care and staff.

The role requires a high school diploma, basic computer skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in building services or logistics preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency, such as Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a university vehicle.
• Ability to lift and transport materials up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Transports records, supplies, mail, specimens, vaccines and equipment between HUHS locations and clinics.
• Operates HUHS van; coordinates routine servicing and inspections.
• Performs routine visual inspections and basic building upkeep.
• Assesses leaks, temperature issues, electrical or equipment concerns; triages accordingly.
• Performs basic corrective actions and coordinates with Campus Services or vendors.
• Unloads trucks, moves furniture, prepares rooms; supports central services as needed.
• Documents service issues; follows up to ensure completion or escalation.
• Maintains supplies and reagents for routine building-support activities.
