Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician at Harvard Medical School to help ensure reliable building operations and safety across campus facilities.

You will perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and related systems, document work logs, and assist licensed tradespeople. The role requires on-site work and potential emergency response, with a 40-hour weekly schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years field experience with HVAC equipment.
• Basic knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning machinery and components required.
• Must possess a valid State driver’s license and satisfactory driving history.

Responsibilities

• Provide responsive customer support in building maintenance and operations.
• Under supervision, inspect HVAC equipment and primary building systems for proper function.
• Assist licensed tradespersons in installation, repair and operation of building equipment.
• Collect data to establish and update preventive maintenance records and logs.
• Identify and label equipment per preventive maintenance plans.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on primary building equipment (lubrication, filters, belts, etc.).
• Maintain clean work areas and tools; advise customers on progress and status.
• Must supply a complete set of hand tools.
• May work in research lab environments and around hazardous materials.
• May work independently or in a multi-trade team under supervision.
