Job summary

Harvard University Health Services (HUHS) in Cambridge is seeking a Building Operations Support role to act as the initial onsite responder for facilities impacting patient care and clinical operations.

You will perform routine upkeep, transport materials, operate the HUHS van, and coordinate with Campus Services and vendors to maintain safe, functional spaces. The position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and HIPAA training adherence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in building services and/or logistics.
• Basic computer proficiency (MS Office).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Transports medical records, supplies, mail, laboratory specimens, vaccines, equipment between HUHS locations.
• Operates the HUHS van and coordinates routine vehicle servicing and maintenance.
• Performs routine visual inspections and basic upkeep of assigned spaces; reports safety or operations issues.
• Triages observed building conditions (leaks, temps, electrical/equipment concerns).
• Coordinates specialized building service work with Campus Services and vendors/contractors.
• Performs finish and carpentry work (drywall, painting, furniture).
• Assists with unloading, moving furniture, room prep, and responding to requests.
• Gives access and basic information to vendors; verifies completion of work.
