Job summary

Avera Prince of Peace-Skilled Nursing is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance across buildings and equipment. You will manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs while ensuring safety protocols are followed and records are kept accurate.

The role emphasizes collaboration with contractors, adherence to safety policies, and participation in emergency drills.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma and related training (3–6 months) or equivalent.
• Boiler operator licensing preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs building inspections, replaces parts, cleans, and oversees heating, plumbing, grounds, and safety-related tasks to maintain a safe facility.
• Performs basic carpentry and maintenance including painting, remodeling, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work.
• Maintains and repairs equipment (beds, wheelchairs, kitchen equipment, furniture, etc.) on a scheduled basis or as needed.
• Monitors and maintains steam or chilled water systems, air handling units, sterilizers, and related equipment.
• Creates and tracks PM schedules, logs servicing activities, and ensures compliance with PM programs.
• Responds to facility emergencies and participates in safety drills; communicates safety concerns to leadership.
