Job summary

Prairie Mountain Health seeks a maintenance technician to care for the grounds, buildings, and equipment across facilities. The role involves preventative maintenance, ensuring safe environments, and adherence to infection control and environmental standards.

You will handle plumbing, carpentry, painting, refrigeration, ventilation, and related tasks as needed, while collaborating with trades and interdisciplinary teams. Strong organizational and communication skills required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education (MB Standards).
• One year apprenticeship in a building trade preferred.
• Two years experience in a building trade.
• One year experience as a maintenance person preferred.
• Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence or equivalent and access to a personal vehicle for Prairie Mountain Health duties.
• Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and Internet applications.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills.
• Flexibility to adapt techniques and procedures in a changing environment.
• Knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position.
• Communication skills and ability to respect confidentiality.
• Ability to perform duties regularly and work with culturally diverse populations.
• Ability to work effectively with co-workers and interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and care for grounds, buildings and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment.
• Ensure infection control and environmental regulations are adhered to.
• Maintain driveways, parking areas and building exits clear of snow and debris.
• Manage maintenance logs for repairs and preventative tasks.
• Perform plumbing, carpentry, painting, refrigeration, ventilation, and HVAC tasks as qualified.
• Assist other trades and participate in new construction and commissioning as required.
• Respond to emergency calls such as fire alarms as required.
• Receive and store deliveries; participate in on-call rotation.
• Keep maintenance areas and workshops clean and organized.
