Job summary
Impact Advisors seeks a seasoned Coding Optimization and Automation Consultant to help healthcare organizations build high-performing coding operations with automation and structured processes. You will partner with coding, HIM, and revenue cycle leaders to apply Epic and automation technology to reduce manual work and improve results.
The role requires leading or shaping coding departments, delivering measurable improvements, and travel up to 80% depending on engagements.
Qualifications
- Experience leading a coding department or coding operations.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and E/M coding.
- Proven track record of measurable productivity improvements.
- Experience with Epic coding workflows and AI-enabled tools.
Responsibilities
- Assess and redesign coding department structure and work allocation.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities, including Epic coding functionality.
- Optimize Epic hospital billing workflows and workqueues.
- Build or improve coding QA programs with audits, feedback, and corrective action.
- Develop coder onboarding and ongoing education programs.
- Establish coding KPIs and reporting for performance and accountability.
- Engage client leadership and report progress to executives.
