Job summary

UC Health is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to streamline the operations of the patient care unit in Cincinnati. You will perform receptionist and clerical tasks, manage patient charts, coordinate with admitting and nursing staff, and support smooth patient flow using the EPIC system.

The role requires 1–2 years of customer service experience, strong communication skills, and familiarity with medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• HUC education from college or vocational school preferred.
• 1–2 years equivalent customer service experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• BLS training provided during orientation if not certified at hire.

Responsibilities

• Work as a team to accomplish daily unit tasks and goals.
• Communicate clearly with patients, visitors and staff, maintaining confidentiality.
• Provide clerical/non-clinical support; assemble patient charts and prepare charts for procedures.
• Coordinate admissions, discharges and transfers using hospital information systems.
• Adhere to dress code and complete annual competencies as required.
