Job summary

Strong communication, computer, and organizational skills are essential. The HUC will handle chart preparation, patient flow coordination, and interdepartmental communications while maintaining confidentiality and using hospital information

Qualifications

• 1-2 years equivalent customer service experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; HUC education from college or vocational school preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Demonstrates initiative and self-starting attitude.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and database management.
• Completes yearly mandatory unit specific, hospital and safety education.

Responsibilities

• Works effectively with the team to accomplish daily unit tasks and goals.
• Communicates clearly and courteously with patients, visitors and staff.
• Performs clerical/non-clinical support for patient services under nursing supervision.
• Prepares charts, files, forms and reports per policy; coordinates in-hosptial transportation and discharge activities.
• Maintains confidentiality and uses hospital information systems appropriately.
