Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Full Time Unit Clerk within the 35818 Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center – Med Surg: IU 9S Cardiac. The role supports nursing units by coordinating tests, communicating with departments, and maintaining EMR accuracy.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, healthcare experience preferred, and strong communication and detail orientation. The position requires a 40-hour work week on the 2nd shift (1500-2330) with holiday rotation and weekend variance.

Qualifications

• High School Education completed (HSD, GED, HSED).
• At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communications.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to interruptions and changing priorities.
• High level of attention to detail essential.
• Maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

• Coordinates tests and treatments with and between various departments for patients on nursing units.
• Facilitates communications required to support patient care including multiple-line telephone and hospital information system.
• Maintains working knowledge of EMR and other systems for orders and charges.
• Compiles chart forms for admissions, transfers and discharges; handles medical records transfers.
• Verifies medical records contain complete patient demographics and registration details.
• Establishes and maintains positive customer relations and a harmonious work environment.
• Demonstrates age-specific care knowledge and applies department policies and procedures.
