Regions Hospital is hiring a friendly, organized, and adaptable individual to join the NE6 Inpatient Mental Health department as a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)! Focused on our Circle of Support core values, our multidisciplinary team provides patient and family centered care geared towards the uniqueness of each patient. We offer a welcoming and respectful environment that is stigma free to patients and their families. Patients on this unit are 18 years and older and are experiencing acute mental health illness of high acuity. In addition, patients may have medical/surgical conditions that are being treated and require intervention. Taking on the role as a Health Unit Coordinator means you will use your communication and critical-thinking skills to support the nursing staff and create a welcoming environment for patients and visitors.
As a Health Unit Coordinator, you serve as the first person of contact on the unit and will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and visitors through welcoming behaviors, effective communication, and information sharing. In addition to customer service, this position simultaneously performs clerical/receptionist functions on a patient unit which includes but are not limited to, organizing, and maintaining unit supplies necessary for daily activities, preparing and maintaining patient records, preforming data entry into the electronic system, acting as a resource to medical staff regarding hospital protocols and communicating between staff, patients, families, care providers, and between the unit and other hospital departments. This position works under the supervision of the nurse manager/ charge nurse.
0.5 FTE Day/Evening position and float among six mental health units. Shifts may be scheduled in 12-hour, 10-hour, 8-hour, or 4-hour increments and may include weekends and holidays.
