Job summary

Person County Government is recruiting a Processing Assistant IV for the Health Department. The role sits in Management Support and provides clerical support to programs including Maternal Health, Family Planning, Adult Health, STI, Tuberculosis, Communicable Disease, and Immunizations.

The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and at least two years of office/secretarial experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
• This is a non-exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical support for Family Planning, Maternal Health, STI, Tuberculosis, Communicable Disease, and Immunization programs.
• Determine eligibility for Family Planning, Maternal Health, STI, and Immunization programs.
• Update demographics for each patient, verify insurance status, verify household income, and obtain forms.
• Provide direct clerical support to the Family Planning Program Coordinator.
• Cover front desk as needed (answering phones, scheduling, check-in/out clients, posting payments).
• Assist the Communicable Disease Nurse in utilizing NCEDSS to access patient data.
• Prepare minutes after each Staff meeting and Management Support meeting.
• Represent Management Support staff on various committees.
• Assist with offsite vaccination clinics and community events.
• Fax or mail medical records according to Medical Records Policy.
• Other duties as assigned by the Management Support Supervisor and/or Health Director.
