Description:
This position will cover duties in the Medical Records/Appointment Unit. The primary duties of this position include: pre-registering patients; verifying and updating patient demographic information; collecting and entering all insurance and financial information; obtaining copies of patient identification; and act as Immunization Administrator which requires tracking immunizations and identifying patients who need vaccinations (specifically children 24 to 36 months). Other responsibilities include the following: retrieving and scanning all patient information into the patient’s EHR; preparing and mailing copies of all medical records for which there is a valid Release of Information; assisting with scheduling patient appointments; directing incoming calls to appropriate personnel; and performing other duties as required.
Requirements:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience. Prefer applicants with the following: strong verbal communication skills; personal computer knowledge and experience; and ability to relate and communicate with patients, staff, and people from all socio-economic groups and backgrounds. The ability to maintain patient confidentiality is required. All health department employees (with the exception of individuals with an accommodation or medical exemption) are required to get an annual flu shot vaccine as part of condition of employment.
