Job summary

Aultman Health Foundation seeks a Health Information Technician to support the Medical Records Department, ensuring quality customer service and accurate file coordination in compliance with all regulations.

Responsibilities include processing ROI requests, chart file management, transcription support, and offsite records handling. High school diploma required; HIM experience and certifications preferred. Occasional Saturday coverage noted.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• HIM department experience preferred.
• Certification (CPC/COC/CIC) preferred.
• Cerner HIM systems experience preferred.
• Knowledge of dictation/transcription, ROI and coding.
• Understanding of information systems and their impact to customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist both internal and external customers with exceptional customer service.
• Verify loose documentation is part of the medical record.
• Return documentation that does not belong to the medical record to the correct author/department or disposal method per policy.
• File documents in the correct patient chart and location.
• Procure records and manage offsite storage, purge, and prepare records for destruction as scheduled.
• Process fax requests for information.
• Provide notary services (rotation).
• Chart Tracking: locate, file, retrieve, and out-guide charts.
• Produce labels for permanent folders.
• Process transcription services for timely completion.
• Log requests in the MRO platform and process ROI requests per HIPAA regulations.
