Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Health Information Specialist to support the integrity, security, and accessibility of patient health records. You will maintain electronic health records, process requests, and ensure HIPAA compliance while supporting providers and patients with timely information.

The role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and experience with EHR systems (Epic). This onsite Sacramento position offers a contract-to-hire pathway and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Health Information Management or Healthcare Administration preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in medical records or health information management.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding concepts; Epic experience required.

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and organize electronic and paper medical records.
• Scan, index, upload, and file patient documentation within the EHR system.
• Enter, update, and verify patient demographic, insurance, and clinical information.
• Review records for accuracy, completeness, and proper document indexing.
• Process and fulfill medical records requests from patients, providers, payers, attorneys, and other authorized parties.
