Qualifications

  • Detail and quality oriented regarding accurate and compliant medical records information.
  • Strong data entry skills.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities and role needs.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process release-of-information requests, specifically medical record requests, accurately and efficiently
  • Safeguard patient privacy and ensure releases comply with authorizations, company policy, facility policy, and HIPAA regulations
  • Take calls from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys to provide medical record status
  • Document information across multiple platforms using two computer monitors
  • Receive and process requests for patient health information
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
  • Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
  • Adhere to company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies
  • Inform the manager about work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
  • Manage patient health records and ensure HIPAA compliance
  • Prepare new patient charts using paper and electronic health record sources
  • Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure they are accurate and complete
  • Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
  • Retrieve and appropriately transmit records to internal and external requesters
  • Answer inbound and outbound calls
  • Assist with patient walk-ins and administrative duties such as faxes, mail, and data entry
  • Schedule pickups as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
