Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools seeks a part-time Softball Head Coach to lead student-athletes, focusing on fundamental skills, team strategies, and conditioning.

You will collaborate with the athletic director to advance the athletic department's goals, model sportsmanship, and follow the district's Code of Ethics. A background check, fingerprinting, and a $46.20 fee are required.

The position is pro-rated for the remaining school-year days per the Students First Act guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current Alabama Teacher’s Certification (preferred) or classified dependent upon qualifications of the person holding the position
• Previous Experience in sports as a participant and/or coach (preferred) but not required
• Completion of all requirements set forth by the AHSAA Coaches’ Education Program
• Must have or be willing to obtain CDL
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of softball and a willingness to examine new theories and procedures

• To instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical conditioning necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success
• To work with the athletic director in accomplishing the mission and goals of the athletic department
• Instruct athletes in fundamentals, develop character, model expected behavior
• Ability to work with players, parents, administration and other coaches
• To adhere to the MPS Athletics Code of Ethics and Conduct for Sports Coaches
• Attend the AHSAA sponsored rules clinic for his/her sport

SPECIAL NOTE: For employees starting work after the beginning date of the work term, the salary will be pro-rated and based on the number of contract days left in the school year, divided by the remaining months in the contract year.
