Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking an Assistant Basketball Coach on a temporary basis in Montgomery, AL. The role supports the Head Coach in teaching game fundamentals, safety, and strategy, while ensuring compliance with AHSAA rules.

Responsibilities include supervising athletes, planning practices, and implementing safe instruction. A background check is required, and CDL is preferred or obtainable as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

• Current Alabama Teacher’s Certification (preferred) or qualifications equivalent as appropriate.
• Experience in sports as participant and/or coach (preferred) but not required.
• Completion of all requirements set forth by the AHSAA Coaches’ Education Program.
• Must have or be willing to obtain CDL.

• Previous Experience in sports as a participant and/or coach (preferred) but not required
• Completion of all requirements set forth by the AHSAA Coaches’ Education Program
• Must have or be willing to obtain CDL

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Assists the Head Basketball coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport
• Assists with determining game strategy
• Assists the head basketball coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition
• Ensure that all athletic activities conform to AHSAA guidelines
• Knows effective safety procedures in their sport, plans and implements a program of instruction in safe practices.

SPECIAL NOTE:

The person selected for this position must agree to a background check, be fingerprinted, and pay a $46.20 fee. This is required by law.

SPECIAL NOTE:

For employees starting work after the beginning date of the work term, the salary will be pro-rated and based on the number of contract days left in the school year, divided by the remaining months in the contract year.
