Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Head Start Substitute Teacher to provide a nurturing environment for children ages 0–5 and their families in Los Angeles. The role involves implementing the program curriculum for double sessions, planning activities, and coordinating with a Co-Teacher and Family Advocate to support enrolled families.

Essential duties emphasize on-site service delivery, classroom planning, and collaboration with HS services to promote parent involvement and child development.

Qualifications

• Fingerprint clearance and background check are required.
• Automobile access with adequate insurance and valid CA driver’s license.
• TB clearance within 6 months prior; annual influenza vaccination.
• Pertussis and measles immunization; health screening at time of employment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move quickly in a busy environment.
• Meets requirements to obtain Associate Teacher Permit.

Responsibilities

• Provide a learning environment with varied activities to support social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.
• Plan and implement the Head Start curriculum for morning and afternoon classes; plan activities; involve families.
• Integrate HS services such as parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, and mental health.
