Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Head Start Substitute Teacher for East/West/Central LA campuses. The role provides children with an environment that fosters social, emotional, intellectual and physical development, supporting readiness for kindergarten.

Essential duties include implementing Head Start activities, planning lessons, collaborating with a Co-Teacher and Family Advocate, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Proof of 12 units of ECE/Child development
• Meets requirements to obtain Associate Teacher Permit
• Experience working with children

Responsibilities

• Provide children with an environment that encourages social, emotional, and cognitive development.
• Plan and implement the Head Start curriculum for morning and afternoon classes.
• Collaborate with Co-Teacher and Family Advocate to support enrolled families.
• Maintain children’s records and submit monthly paperwork on time.
• Observe and assess developmental levels and set individualized goals.
• Ensure a learning environment reflecting diverse backgrounds and licensing requirements.
