Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Head Start Teacher (Substitute) to provide a developmentally appropriate program for children ages 0–5. You will collaborate with a Co-Teacher and Family Advocate to deliver learning experiences that promote social competence and family involvement.

Essential duties require on-site presence, curriculum implementation for double sessions, and coordination with Head Start services to support children's growth and family engagement in a diverse Los Angeles community.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background check, including employment and education verifications.
• Must have access to automobile and valid CA driver’s license for home visits and travel.
• TB clearance within 6 months prior, annual influenza vaccination, Pertussis and measles immunization.
• Health screening at time of employment; ability to interact with children in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide a varied, developmentally appropriate environment to support social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth.
• Implement the program curriculum for morning and afternoon classes; plan activities and involve families.
• Integrate HS services into learning (parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, mental health).
• Maintain child records with FA; submit timely monthly paperwork.
• Observe and assess developmental levels; set goals for individual needs.
• Provide activities that support parents as primary educators; reflect diverse backgrounds.
• Ensure health and safety standards; work on-site as required.
