Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency, Inc. is seeking a Substitute for the Head Start program in Traverse City. You willSupport classroom activities, assist with meals, and help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment for young children.

The role emphasizes flexibility, collaboration with staff, adherence to Head Start standards, and participation in ongoing professional development to support children's readiness and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Promote school readiness by enhancing children's social, cognitive, and overall development through education, health, nutrition, and social services.
• Comply with Head Start standards, grants, licensing requirements, CACFP, and NMCAA policies.
• Follow agency processes, policies, procedures, and guidance.
• Follow child protection laws, mandated reporting policy, early childhood guidance policy and code of conduct.
• Ensure a safe, healthy, and organized environment; implement emergency procedures; follow health and medication policies.
• Maintain accurate records for attendance, meals, transportation, and budgets.
• Build relationships with school and food service personnel.
• Assist in maintaining a child-friendly environment and collaborate with staff on daily operations.
• Participate in transportation efforts and may be required to ride the bus.
• Participate in food service operations: shopping for groceries, food transport, family-style meal prep, and cleanup.
• Be present during core hours with children and adapt to flexible schedules to meet family and team needs.
• Complete required duties as assigned by the supervisor.
