The role supports school readiness by promoting children's development and coordinating with health, nutrition, and social services. You will follow Head Start standards and NMCAA policies, assist with daily operations, and maintain accurate records while ensuring a safe classroom environment.

Responsibilities

  • Promote school readiness by supporting children's social, cognitive, and overall development through educational, health, nutritional, and social services.
  • Comply with Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, 5-Year Grant, MiLeap-Child Care Licensing Bureau, USDA-CACFP Requirements, and NMCAA policies.
  • Follow agency processes, policies, procedures, and guidance.
  • Adhere to Child Protection Law, mandated reporting policies, and NMCAA's guidance and Code of Conduct.
  • Support a developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Maintain accurate records including food service inventory and procurement forms.
  • Build relationships with school and food service personnel.
  • Ensure a safe, healthy, organized environment; implement emergency procedures; follow health care, allergy, medication, and authorized release policies.
  • Report incidents and accidents as required.
  • Assist in maintaining a child-friendly environment and collaborate with staff to support day-to-day operations.
  • Support transportation efforts and may be required to ride the bus.
  • Participate with food service operations, including shopping for groceries, food transport, and family-style meals in classrooms, and cleanup.
  • Maintain attendance, meals, transportation, and budgets records.
  • Participate in professional development to meet annual requirements.
  • Utilize NMCAA platforms such as Podio, E-3, MiRegistry, GOLD, SharePoint; support all NMCAA classrooms by subbing if needed.
  • Be present during core hours with children and adapt to flexible schedules to meet family and team needs.
  • Complete required duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Follow agency processes, policies, procedures, and guidance.
  • Adhere to the Child Protection Law, Staff and Volunteer Mandated Reporting Policy, NMCAA's Early Childhood Guidance Policy and Code of Conduct.
  • Support a developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Maintain accurate records including food service inventory and procurement forms.
  • Build relationships with school and food service personnel.
  • Ensure a safe, healthy, and organized environment. Implement emergency procedures. Utilize Active Supervision practices. Follow policies on health care needs, food allergies, medication administration, and authorized adult releases.
  • Report incidents and accidents as required.
  • Assist in maintaining a child friendly environment and collaborate with staff to support day to day operations.
  • Support transportation efforts and may be required to ride the bus.
  • Participate with food service operations, including shopping for groceries, food transport, preparation for family style meals in the classrooms, and clean-up as necessary.
