Job summary

EightCAP, Inc. seeks a Classroom Substitute to maintain continuity in Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms when regular staff are absent. You will keep children engaged, ensure safety, and support teachers with activities.

The role requires strong communication with families and staff, adherence to confidentiality, and compliance with Head Start regulations. This on-call, non-exempt position is paid hourly and located in Michigan.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to communicate effectively and positively and work collaboratively with staff, families, agency representatives, service providers, and community organizations in a respectful, professional, and non-judgmental manner.
• Understanding of mandated reporting requirements, including the ability to recognize, document, and report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with state law and program procedures.
• Must successfully complete all required state and federal background clearances.

Responsibilities

• Monitor classroom to provide a safe, healthy, organized environment for children in Early Head Start and Head Start.
• Maintain program confidentiality and professional boundaries with children, families, and staff.
