Job summary

EightCAP, Inc. is seeking a Classroom Substitute to support Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms across Michigan counties. You will maintain a safe, engaging environment and ensure continuity of instruction when regular staff are absent.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, can communicate effectively, follow confidentiality and mandated reporting rules, and are prepared to complete required background checks. This on-call, hourly role involves varied hours and no benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, families, and partners.
• Understanding of mandated reporting requirements and program procedures.
• Must pass all required state and federal background clearances.

Responsibilities

• Monitor a safe, healthy, organized environment for children in Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with children and families.
• Model appropriate behavior and healthy eating habits for children.
• Assist with meal preparation and maintain cleanliness of food prep areas.
• Follow Head Start, LARA, and CACFP regulations and requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and report suspected child abuse or neglect.
• Communicate positively with children, parents, and staff.
• Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
