Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation seeks a Head Start Teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans for preschool children, fostering social, cognitive, emotional, and physical development in line with program standards.

You will collaborate with the Site Supervisor and MRDC team to create engaging curriculum, assess progress, and support families while maintaining a safe and stimulating classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of early childhood development principles.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Cultural competency and the ability to work with diverse families.

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children.
• Refer children suspected of having special needs or challenging behavior to appropriate staff.
• Implement behavior plans and IEPs designed with the team, families, schools, and mental health professionals.
• Guide and facilitate activities of the children, including daily activities, field trips, and material preparation.
• Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child.
