Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) seeks a Head Start Teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans for preschool children (ages 3–5). You will collaborate with the Site Supervisor and MRDC team to support social, cognitive, physical and emotional development in line with Head Start standards. This is an eleven‑month position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• At least one year of early childhood classroom teaching experience preferred.
• Must pass criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum per guidance from Education Coordinator and leaders.
• Refer children suspected of special needs to appropriate staff and implement IEPs/behavior plans.
• Guide daily activities, field trips, and arrange materials in the classroom.
• Maintain a portfolio with weekly observations and developmental assessments.
• Supervise children at all times and apply positive behavior management strategies.
• Attend trainings, workshops, and staff meetings to enhance professional skills.
• Ensure files are complete, accurate, and confidentially maintained.
