Job summary

The Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) seeks a Head Start Teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans for 3-5 year olds, fostering social, cognitive, physical, and emotional growth in line with Head Start standards.

The teacher collaborates with the Site Supervisor and MRDC team, conducts ongoing assessments, manages a safe classroom, and engages families through outreach and home visits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of early childhood development principles.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Cultural competency and the ability to work with diverse families.

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children.
• Refer children with special needs or challenging behavior to appropriate staff.
• Implement behavior plans and IEPs with the team and families.
• Guide and facilitate classroom activities and daily routines.
• Maintain a comprehensive portfolio assessment for each child.
• Foster a positive learning atmosphere and safe classroom environment.
• Attend trainings, workshops, and staff meetings to enhance skills.
