Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Head Start Lead Teacher to oversee day-to-day services for 3- to 5-year-old children in our Head Start program. The role reports to the Center Manager/Director and may involve acting leadership roles during transitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and meet program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and develop classroom staff and manage day-to-day operations.
• Plan and implement learning experiences to advance development.
• Improve readiness for school through literacy, phonemic and print awareness.
• Maintain a safe, healthy learning environment and support family involvement.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and program timelines.
• Conduct home visits and parent conferences, document outcomes, and monitor progress.
