Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is hiring a Head Start Lead Teacher to oversee day-to-day operations for children ages 3-5 under the direction of the Center Manager/Director. The role focuses on implementing developmentally appropriate lessons, promoting early literacy, and maintaining a safe, supportive classroom environment.

You will also engage families, conduct assessments, and ensure compliance with program guidelines while collaborating with staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.
• PDS documentation, transcripts, and proof of credentials.
• Ability to perform physical requirements (kneel, bend, squat, lift up to 50 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children.
• Improve the readiness of children for school by developing literacy, phonemic, and print awareness.
• Establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment.
• Support the social and emotional development of children.
• Encourage family involvement and support relationships between children and families.
• Apply developmentally appropriate practices inclusive of children with disabilities.
• Meet regulations and timelines for compliance, documentation, and reporting.
