Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is hiring a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support a Lead Teacher across multiple sites in the metro area. You will help plan engaging learning activities, set up age-appropriate learning centers, and ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.

You will assist with attendance, meal counts, and daily reporting while participating in family engagement and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• CDA credential or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to meet physical requirements (kneel, bend, squat, lift up to 50 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start teacher in planning and conducting learning activities.
• Maintain a clean, healthy, and organized classroom environment.
• Provide supervision during indoor and outdoor activities.
• Observe and document children’s attendance and meal counts.
• Support family engagement and home visits as needed.
• Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines in all activities.
