Job summary

The YMCA of Central Maryland, Inc. seeks a Health & Nutrition Specialist to lead health, oral health, mental health coordination, and nutrition services for Head Start and Early Head Start families.

You will ensure compliance with federal and state standards and align services with program goals. You will collaborate with education, family services, disabilities and operations teams to promote child health, safe environments, and developmentally appropriate meals, screenings, and education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition, Dietetics, Health Education, or related field required.
• Preferred: RN, LPN, RD, or CHES.
• Able to lift a child weighing 40 pounds.
• Maintain CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan health, oral health, mental health coordination, and nutrition services for Head Start and Early Head Start families.
• Coordinate and monitor health screenings, immunizations, vision, hearing, dental exams within timelines.
• Oversee CACFP compliance, meal pattern standards, menus, and food safety across centers.
• Train staff on health and safety procedures, infection control, and nutrition education.
• Collaborate with education, family services, and operations to support child health and readiness to learn.

Skills

Bachelor’s/General Health Degree

RN/LPN/RD/CHES preferred

Education
